The ketogenic diet is a low-carbohydrate and high-fat diet. This means you will need to make sure to get enough fat in your daily meals because fats are going to be turned into energy instead of carbohydrates. The body uses carbs for energy when they are consumed, but since there are so few on this diet, it’ll have no choice but to burn stored fats. Now let’s get into the diet plan itself. It is very simple and easy to maintain. You can eat unlimited amounts of meat, eggs, vegetables that grow above ground, nuts, seeds, and healthy oils. Foods you should avoid are bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and anything else made with wheat or cornflour. This is because carbohydrates need to be avoided to allow your body to reach a state called ketosis, where it will begin using fats for fuel instead of carbs. When eating out at restaurants you must make sure not to consume too many carbohydrates during lunch or dinner time.
